What motivated you to consider medical travel for bariatric surgery?
My health was deteriorating and after years of yoyo dieting I was struggling, I thought if I carried on then I wouldn’t have been here for my children much longer. I could never have afforded the surgery in this country and so I researched abroad.

Did you feel you had enough support in terms of language, directions, and guidance during your stay?
Support during my stay was great, nurses and surgeons very approachable and friendly, I think I had one nurse that was great with English but I used google translate with her and it was absolutely fine! I had support from someone from renovatedme over there and I was extremely lucky to actually have met lldem as she was over there the same time and made the experience more personal.
How did you feel about the medical team’s expertise and care during your surgery?
Medical team were amazing!! They found out that I had diabetes over there which impacted on either I was going to have the surgery or not. They helped stabilise my blood sugars and informed me that if they couldn’t get it under control that I wouldn’t be having in the surgery. I was a little upset about this, but they were putting my health and well being first and I completely understood this and was thankful. There care was outstanding. My sugars lowered and I was able to go ahead as they were happy. I also had my gallbladder removed as was on nhs waiting list for over 4 years to have it removed, so I asked renovated me if they could do that procedure too and it was done at an extra cost. Amazing .
Did you experience any complications or side effects during or after the surgery?
One of my incisions took longer to heal than the rest but apart from that absolutely nothing at all.
How much weight did you lose?
I’m currently 16months post op and I have lost 11st 2lbs.

I’m no longer Diabetic, I no longer have any blood pressure issues so off all my medications. I am fitter stronger and healthier than ever and happier than I have ever been.

That this is last resort,it’s a life long tool that you have to work with. It’s hard it’s not an easy option, but it’s worth while . There a lot of negativity regarding surgery abroad, but if you find the right people and surgeon and right company with support then do it. Do you research speak to real people and don’t let anyone pressure you, decision is hard but it’s yours alone.
