I had already travelled to Turkey to have a gastric sleeve to facilitate weight loss and drive my diabetes into remission. Having been a yo-yo dieter for decades, I have always found the loose skin a barrier to further weightloss. I decided from the outset of my bariatric journey, that it would have to be a two step journey -weight loss followed by remedial action to tackle the excess skin.
I found process of getting communication started with RenovatedME very easy. Even though I was part way through my weightloss journey, when I made my initial enquiry, I was respectfully considered for surgery based on my time frame, end targets and my determination to be an excellent candidate for the surgeon to work on. This was very refreshing as other competitors only wanted to enter discussions when the weightloss journey was over so they could apply high pressure sales tactics.
My coordinator Ildem was very open and transparent. Questions that I wanted to ask were always answered promptly and fully. Anytime I wanted clarification on suitability of procedures, the pros and cons were always presented. I felt comfortable to send pictures through my weightloss journey, even as my natural breast volume withered away. I was confident that I would end up with a natural feminine shape that was more akin to that at an early point in my life and I am ecstatic with my results.
During my stay I was thoroughly supported by Ildem (my UK coordinator) remotely through WhatsApp, Hakan had introduced himself before we left the UK and met my companion and I directly at the airport. He travelled in the airport transfer with us to the hospital. He acted as translator to go through all the legal hospital consent forms, the surgeon’s consultation, meeting with the anaesthetist, phlebotomist, xray and ECG technicians as well as nursing staff. Beyond that Hakan also made sure that my companion and I had access to both hospital and hotel wifi, so we could stay in contact with friends and family while away. He had an excellent rapport with the hotel staff and transfer drivers, nothing was too much trouble for us.
The hospital facilities were excellent. Everything was well organised, bright, fresh and immaculately clean. Medical checks moved forward swiftly, unlike my experience within the NHS and private UK clinics, there was no hanging around. Staff were very proactive to use Google translate to make sure they understood what my pain felt like so it could be managed effectively and speed along my recovery. Regular observations meant that I never had to ring my buzzer for attention, so all my needs were very well cared for.
I was very pleased with Dr Kamil’s professionalism and consideration for my holistic wellbeing. Being diabetic, planning my incisions carefully to limit shearing forces during recovery was at the forefront of his mind.
This meant that we jointly decided to avoid a fleur de lys incision for the minimal improvement it would make compared to adding it to the 360 liposuction and circumferential lift. It has been my previous experience that companies will try and upsell extra procedures.
It was refreshing that my experience was need focused rather than financially driven. Consideration for my diabetes was high on the agenda and I was very well cared for throughout.

My blood sugars were a little erratic after 5 hours of surgery. So a second surgery was planned to complete the 360 circumferential lift a few weeks later.
Due human error, my companion didn’t straighten my bandage under my compression garments and a very small blister formed as a result. Dr Kamil resolved this at my checkup and the blister has healed without a trace.
I would recommend that you research your surgeon as well as the company organising the surgery. Look at the surgeon’s portfolio to find patients with a similar “before plastics body shape” to your own, so you can see what is a realistic outcome for yourself.
Skill and experience should be higher on your ticklist than cost. Surgery is only value for money if you get the outcome you can realistically expect.
Be wary of any company who won’t enter any dialogue or answer any questions until you have paid a deposit and signed a contract. You only have one body and you need a team that will treat you with the respect you deserve. Open communication from the outset I’d worth its weight in gold.
